Employee Spotlight: Marisa Opie, Business Development Manager

Employee Spotlight: Marisa Opie, Business Development Manager

Marisa Opie

Name & Title:
Marisa Opie, Business Development Manager

Describe what you do at Lovepop.
The Business Development Manager is really just a fancy term for sales! I started out on the wholesale team selling into independent retailers - think of your local bookstores, florists, toy stores, you name it! I also handled account management for our existing customers, making sure they were in the best position possible to sell Lovepop and always stocked up on our newest designs. This past January, I made the switch over to our new Corporate Team - think of any company or business that sends cards/gifts. Whether it is customer appreciation, employee recognition, thank you cards, holiday sends, event invitations, or whatever else floats your boat - I'm your person!

What's the best thing about your job?
The people! Whether it is the fun people I get to work alongside every day, or our amazing customer base I get to speak with. There are a ton of awesome people out there that love Lovepop. I love being someone who gets to speak and work with them while getting to hear all of their great stories.

Out of our 4 core values (engineering, hunger, magic, connection), which one describes you best and why?
I would say connection. I love people (and talking)! That is why I love my job so much because I get to meet and talk to so many awesome people every day.

What is your favorite Lovepop card?
Champagne Toast (for obvious reasons). Cheers!

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
Sports Broadcaster!

What do you like doing outside of work?
I'm a big sports fan! You can find me playing anything from beach volleyball to intramural softball. I'm also an avid fan of board games and cards. When I'm not playing, I'm usually watching sports on TV. I also love finding new restaurants around Boston and scoping out which places have the most fun cocktails.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I am going to cheat and choose three. 1) Oysters to start. Medium rare bone-in ribeye, mashed potatoes or shoestring fries, mushrooms and asparagus. 2) Chick-fil-A. 3) My mom's homemade fried rice.

What is your go-to karaoke song?
Easy - "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston.

Is there anything else you'd like the world to know about you?
I am a huge Detroit Sports fan - go Red Wings! I love potato products and french fries so much that I have an Instagram account dedicated to it - @apeeling_potatoes. Also, I have a bernedoodle puppy named Miller after Miller Lite.
